Our Initiatives
Our collaboration with the European Commission marks a significant milestone in our journey, through our involvement in the DETMED Project under the Horizon Europe Marie SkÅ‚odowska-Curie Actions. In this initiative, we contributed to the “Novel Detector Concept for Medical Gamma Probe” project, where we honed our expertise in cutting-edge scientific research and mastered the nuances of intercultural collaboration within a global team.
We are currently at the forefront of two major European Union-funded initiatives that underscore our commitment to pioneering medical technology and international scientific collaboration.
HSAFE Project (2025–2029) | Horizon Europe
This ambitious project is dedicated to developing high-sensitivity avalanche field-effect transistors. Its primary application is the advancement of cancer diagnostics, with a focus on the intraoperative detection of cancerous tissue. By creating more precise and sensitive tools, HSAFE aims to empower surgeons and oncologists, ultimately contributing to improved patient outcomes in cancer surgery.
DETMED Project (2023–2027)
Focused on the vital intersection of optics and medicine, the DETMED project explores the application of optical sensors and gamma probes in clinical settings. Key areas of research include enhancing techniques for sentinel lymph node mapping and improving the safety and efficacy of parathyroid surgery. This initiative is a testament to our dedication to developing practical, life-changing medical technologies.
Global Knowledge Exchange: ODAE 2025
Furthering our engagement with the global scientific community, we participated in the "ODAE – Open Dialogue in Applied Engineering 2025" conference from 1–8 September. Organized by the DeepTechLab of Lusófona University in Ölüdeniz, Türkiye, this event brought together leading researchers, scientists, and engineers to discuss cutting-edge advancements in engineering and their profound impact on society and healthcare.
Beyond the laboratory, we are deeply committed to cultivating a culture of knowledge-sharing and civic participation. We design and deliver inclusive workshops that transform complex scientific concepts into accessible, engaging, and hands-on learning experiences. This direct engagement is core to our mission of bridging science and society, sparking the curiosity and innovative thinking that drives progress.
A key pillar of our work is empowering youth through digital education and technological innovation. We equip young people in Hungary with practical skills in digital storytelling, data visualization, and advocacy, mentoring them to create powerful campaigns on critical issues like environmental sustainability and social inclusion. By fostering digital literacy and critical thinking, we are preparing a new generation to harness technology for positive social impact.
To further this goal, we partner with international NGOs and youth groups to create transformative opportunities for Hungarian youth.
